Kick Sugar and Booze To The Curb October

help sugar kid.jpg

Sugar is shown to be more addictive than cocaine!

sugar addict.jpg

As stress levels increase, often people turn to alcohol to help them unwind, cope and check out.

vegging out.jpeg

Join me on a month long adventure to see how your body responds when you kick sugar and booze to the curb.

I promise that it will not be easy! I also promise that at the end of it you will have a new found appreciation for your body, for sugary sweets and for a fine glass of wine or beer.

Step 1:

Join me on my “Healthy Bodies For Life” Facebook Group

Step 2:

Have patience, kindness, love and compassion towards yourself during this adventure.

Step 3:

Begin wherever you feel you can start. If that means one day without alcohol or sugar, then start there. One day at a time!!

fridge full of food.jpg

If there is a day you make a choice to have sugar or alcohol, then enjoy it with LOVE and NO GUILT! And then start on your adventure again the next day you feel able to.

Step 4

Set yourself up for success. This may mean shopping for some non-sugary snacks and nice non-alcoholic beverages. You might want to disappear of the sweets in your home so they are not in the temptation zone.

Don’t forget to have fun and be curious about how your body responds to this adventure.

Remember: The best way to have support for this journey is to FOLLOW HERE!

Soul Wellness For Moms-ONLINE

Soul Wellness for Moms-- A workshop for mental health and wellness
** offered online **

We find ourselves in an incredibly challenging time, an unprecedented time-- both globally and in our homes. Mothers often (though there are more and more exceptions) bear a disproportionate load taking care of their families, both emotionally and in practical ways. The weight is especially heavy right now.

It's very hard to feel calm, relaxed and present with our children in times like these. We all want the best for our children, and often that needs to start with us as mothers. It's so much easier to DO our best when we start with FEELING our best!

Our well-being as mothers is SO important at any time, but even more now in the middle of COVID-19. Anxieties are high. We don't know what's going to happen next. Financial concerns are huge for many families. And childcare has completely disappeared. Many mothers are finding themselves working from home while looking after children, or not working with big financial worries.

For moms currently dealing with or having a history of depression, anxiety or other mental health issues, symptoms may be compounded right now. It's all so hard, but no need to face it alone. There IS help, and in this workshop we will be sharing lots of practical strategies and ideas for mothers to feel more balanced and feel better, and to truly be there for their children.

In this workshop we will be sharing:
-the most important social factors for emotional/mental wellness
-how to give children the best possible start in terms of their own mental health
-dealing with big emotions (anger, sadness, fear) in a healthy way
-practical strategies (even when you have very little time) to boost your mental and emotional well-being

We will also be sharing:
-how our body physically responds to stress such as changes in hormones, digestion and brain function (stress does really kill brain cells!)
-how to change that physical response
-tools to use right now, and for the rest of our lives

Presented by- Katherine Aucoin, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor and Laurel Garner, Registered Holistic Nutritionist
We are both mothers of young children and women who have faced and overcome our own mental health issues!

Cost: $20
*If this is not affordable right now because of financial difficulties, please get in touch.
Date: Sunday April 19 from 1-3pm
Location: Online (Zoom- a link will be forwarded after registration)
*A recording of this workshop will be available for those unable to attend
Registration- email katherine@blossomingmothercounselling.com or laurel@internalbalance.ca. $20 payment by etransfer or Paypal confirms registration.

*Disclaimer: this workshop does not replace counselling or other mental health support. It is meant as an additional support during this hard time. Please seek help through a local crisis line or a medical doctor or hospital if you have concerns about mental or emotional well-being. There are many online services being offered right now.

Self- care for Moms

mom self care march 2020.jpg

Check out Event on Facebook

Register by contacting Laurel or calling 250-809-5594

Motherhood is often exhausting and depleting. Do you want to take better care of yourself but you're just not sure how? Your days are jam-packed and self-care just never seems to be a priority.

You may be aware that the better you take care of yourself, the better mom you can be. When you take care of yourself you FEEL better and it's easier to give your children what they really need: your presence, your attention, your love.

And... this concept often gets lost when you have a baby: YOU are still important! You are worthy of feeling good and having your needs met so you can thrive and not just survive as a mother and a woman.

Regular self-care might seem like an impossible dream. But there is a way. It is possible! Join Laurel and Katherine for easily implementable tools to make self-care a reality in your VERY busy life.

Presenters:

Register Holistic Nutritionist, Laurel Garner, Mother of 2 busy boys. Laurel will be talking about nutrition to foster your energy and wellness as well as lifestyle tips to keep your cool.

Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, Katherine Aucoin. Katherine is also a mom to two active little boys, and has personally experienced the world of difference self-care makes. Katherine will be presenting tools to help make self-care a reality for even the busiest of moms.

Sunday, March 8th 1-3pm at Purple Lotus Yoga Penticton

Workshop is open to mothers, partners and all who support them.

Cost: $25/person
*cost includes tea and lovely, healthy and delicious snacks from Gratify.

Space is limited so please register in advance by contacting laurel@internalbalance.ca or katherine@blossomingmothercounselling.com
Your registration is confirmed with $25 payment (sent by etransfer).

*If this cost is beyond what is affordable for you, please get in touch with us. We don't want anyone to miss out on this valuable information because of finances.

*Babies in arms are welcome to attend. Older children are best left at home with another caregiver.

This workshop is the first of 4 workshops led by Laurel and Katherine this spring. There will also be:
April 26: Mental Health for Moms- Starlit Yoga

June 6: Moving Past Mom Guilt- Starlit Yoga
